Feeding the Hungry, One Move At A Time

Feeding the Hungry, One Move At A TimeAs Steve Jobs once said: “Everything around you that you call life was made up by people that were no smarter than you, and you can change it, you can influence it, you can build your own things that other people can use.” The following company, Move For Hunger has down just that. It began with a family owned moving company based in New Jersey. After working in the industry for 90 years, they were astonished and upset by the amount of perfectly good food that was being thrown away during the relocation. This food could be donated to a family in need rather than just being tossed. The wheels started turning and Move For Hunger was born.

Even though the North America is known for wealth and prosperity, according to the stats there are 50 million people that don’t know where their next meal will come from and 17 million children go to be hungry each night. Move For Hunger works with relocation companies to help fill food banks. Move For Hunger’s goal is to leverage its existing national network of transportation companies to create one of the nation’s largest, year-round service programs. The movers that are involved in the program offer to pick up unwanted, non-perishable food items during the moving process and deliver it to their local food banks.

However, Move For Hunger needs your help to keep the program alive. Between now and October 22nd they are in the running for a $25,000 grant and they need help to get it. For more information about how you can help this great program, please read below:
